multi line laser level How to Level a Floor With Sleepers

When the walls are vertical and the floor is flat, the finished living space looks and feels better. While most floors are relatively horizontal, some are purposefully built on a grade, such as a garage floor or a basement floor tilted to the floor drain.During renovation or garage renovation, it is standard practice to level the sloping floor before installing a new floor cover. The sleepers are individually cut furring strips mounted directly on the inclined floor.Install a steam barrier on a masonry garage or basement floor, such as a polyethylene film.Use the recommended glue or tape and follow the installation instructions on the package.Find the highest point of the floor. In the garage, this is usually on the back wall farthest from the garage door.Place the laser horizontally in the highest corner about 6 inch from the corner wall.Point the laser beam to the nearest wall, just around the corner, and make a pencil mark where the beam falls.Rotate the laser, but do not move the laser from its position and make extra marks in the other three corners of the room.Measure from the first mark you go straight down to the floor, minus 1 inch. For example, if the distance from the beam marking to the concrete floor is 4 inch, minus 1 inch, to 3 inch. This is the control measurement you will use to adjust the other corners.Go to every corner, measure down from the laser beam, mark the distance that controls the measurement, and put a new mark on the wall.In our case, each new mark will be 3 inch lower than each original laser mark.Capture chalk lines from corners to corners using new, lower marker sets. The chalk line is horizontal.Place a treatment 2-by-4, on the edge, along a wall, make a mark at each end of the board, where it meets the chalk line on the wall.Lay the board flat and capture a new chalk line between the marks. This is the cutting line and should be slightly diagonal on the board.Wire wire with a round saw along the chalk and then put back the board along the wall.If one 2-by-You can use two or more if needed.Just measure and cut each one individually.Repeat with the other walls in the room to build the perimeter sleeper frame. At the low end of the floor slope, the plank will be the thickest. At the high end, they will be 1 inch thick.Attach the perimeter plate to the floor with concrete screws. Before inserting concrete screws, drill holes on the board every 12 inch metres. The screw length may vary, but the standard is to use screws that extend to about 1 inch of the concrete.Layout of interior sleeper pattern on 16-inch centers. This means that from the middle of a sleeper to the middle of the next sleeper, it should be exactly 16 inch.Make a layout mark at the top of the perimeter board.Insert a small nail in the first layout mark on a perimeter plate, and then insert a nail on the perimeter plate opposite the room-in the corresponding layout mark. The head of the nail should be erected around 1/4.Wrap a chalk line between the two nails and push the line to the low point on the nail.Place a treatment 2-by-4, Edge, flush with chalk line.Capture the chalk line and transfer the horizontal line to the board.Cut the board with a round saw along the chalk line and attach it to the concrete floor like a peripheral sleeper board.About 1/2-Inch gap between the plate end and the perimeter plate to allow expansion.Cut and install extra sleepers in the same way every 16 inch, align each pillow with layout marks on the perimeter board.Use multiple boards to form sleepers if needed, but keep about 1/2 of the space between each to allow expansion
