Pulse Ranging Method)
: The Range Finder emits light pulses. After the light pulses are reflected by the target to be tested, they return to the range finder receiving system to measure the time interval between the light pulse emission and reception, that is, the round-trip propagation time T of the light pulse at the distance to be measured.
The ranging accuracy of pulse method is mostly on the order of meters.
Requirements of light pulse range finder: light pulse should have sufficient intensity; The directivity of light pulse is better. The monochromaticity of light pulse is better. The width of the light pulse should be very narrow.

Phase Ranging Method)
: By measuring the phase change of continuously modulated light waves propagating back and forth at the measured distance, the time T is indirectly measured.
The method has high measurement accuracy and has been widely used in geodesy and engineering survey.
