I used the Hilti PD-
For about six months, 30 laser distance measurements, the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on a beautiful electronic tape measure at first seemed crazy.
But I began to rely on this little electronic miracle.
My business includes architectural and structural design.
I often measure in the wild.
Previously, if I wanted to measure something high, I had to climb up and have an assistant hold the end of the tape.
Or, I might have to climb up platforms and ladders that I'm not familiar with and risk a serious fall.
The laser meter allows you to do almost all the measurements from the ground.
It usually eliminates the cost of an assistant.
This is especially important because there is often a need to assign shop staff to help me get to heights.
The laser measuring device means that I don't have to bother my customer maintenance department, and more importantly, keep me safe on the ground than climb the ladder and cat steps.
Hilti is the cheapest model in Canada but of high quality.
It is very solid and reliable.
There are more expensive models like Leica Disto, it has more features, but I don't think these features will be used because fiddling with buttons and features in a dirty industrial environment brings
I think it may be easier to damage more expensive equipment.
However, use if you need a wireless connection from your laptop to your laser surveyor, or you need a wide range of data recording features.
Maybe you will find the more expensive model very helpful.
A useful feature is the ability to store sizes. The PD-
Only the last 3 measurements are stored in 30.
I think the ability to store 10 or more measurements would be better.
This is not a huge problem, though.
Even if the unit remembers the size, you still have to write down the location of the size, and taking notes can be a great pain in a dirty industrial environment.
I would recommend Hilti PD-if you are considering purchasing a laser distance measuring device-30.
